Instant E-PAN based on AadhaarThe Income Tax department of India has launched an instant Aadhaar-based online Permanent Account Number – PAN allotment facility, especially for resident individuals. The Instant E-PAN based on Aadhaar facility has been introduced by the Income Tax department for resident individuals seeking to obtain the unique identity for the first time. Those who have not PAN card can apply and get e-PAN instantly at free of cost.

This facility is for first-come-first-serve basis for valid Aadhaar holders for a limited period. User can get Instant E-PAN based on Aadhaar at free of cost from the official portal of the department — incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. The process is completely paperless.

The new PAN, obtained by this mechanism, will have the same, date of birth, name, address, mobile number, gender that is present in the individual’s Aadhaar.

The e-PAN facility is not for Firms, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), trusts and companies. This facility only for resident individuals. Once the PAN is allotted to an applicant through his electronic Aadhaar-based verification system in a few seconds, the applicant will be sent the PAN card by post.

How to get instant e-PAN online at free?

1. Visit the IT Department e-Filing portal incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
2. Select link “Apply instant e-PAN”.
3. Fill the details as per your Aadhaar card.
4. Enter OTP from your Aadhaar registered mobile number.
5. Get 15 digit acknowledgement number.
6. Download the e-PAN.

Who can apply for e-PAN?

This facility of e-PAN is applicable only for resident individuals. This facility is not applicable for Trusts, Companies, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), and Firms.

What is e-PAN?

e-PAN is a digitally signed Permanent Account Number – PAN card issued in electronic format using Aadhaar e-KYC process.

By using this facility, Income Tax Department will issue e-PAN instantly.
